Speaking of which, Skyrim: Special Edition has also received a heavy visual makeover, including remastered art and effects, new snow and water shaders, dynamic depth of field, screen-space reflection and so-called volumetric god rays, to name but a few.

The release is undeniably a bigger deal for Xbox One and PS4 owners than it is for PC gamers, given that extensive upgrades already available for the PC version of the game. That being the case, Bethesda has announced that gamers who have purchase Skyrim and all of its DLC (or the Legendary Edition) on Steam will be upgraded to the Special Edition free of charge.
